Our Story

We’re a team of serial entrepreneurs who’ve been instrumental in founding, establishing and growing multiple startups and early stage companies over the past 30 years.

Our passion is creating products, product lines and businesses from scratch. (Building something from nothing is a lot of fun.)

Our founders met each other while building a mobile computing accessory company, Mobility Electronics, founded by Jeff, in the Valley of the Sun. Jeff ran engineering, Charles lead industrial design and Troy headed-up product management. Collectively they drove the innovation and business development side of the enterprise and were directly responsible for conceiving and developing unique OEM and private label products for the likes of Dell, IBM, Gateway, HP, , RadioShack, Targus and Toshiba. As time progressed, Mobility Electronics changed its name to iGo and became a $70M public company listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Over time, iGo’s continual focus on quarterly earnings and corporate bureaucracy began to compete with creativity and innovation. In 2003 Jeff, Charles and Troy departed iGo with the goal of returning to their startup roots – Hotwire Development was formed.

With a passion for product and business development, Hotwire quickly began creating a unique line of patented laptop accessories focused on cooling and ergonomics. After validating the market though sustained product sales to BJ’s Wholesale, CompUSA, QVC and Staples, Hotwire forged licensing agreements for the products with Belkin, Microsoft and Logitech. To date more than 5 million units have been sold worldwide.

Believing that great ideas come from everywhere, we’re now using our broad expertise and proven track record of success helping well capitalized early-stage startups design, engineer, develop, manufacture, and bring their own products to market.

We’re entrepreneurs helping entrepreneurs via a very unique business model. Hotwire cost-effectively injects our considerable resources, experience and expertise in the companies we partner with for the purpose of maximizing our collective results. In fact, we’re typically half the cost of traditional design for hire firms and consistently produce better results.

We do this by engaging at a rates reflective of our actual cost to develop your product (no profit built in) in exchange for upside in the success of your product and/or company. It’s a Higher Purpose Product Partnership rooted in the desire to serve, align and integrate our mutual interests for our mutual benefit. We’re only successful, when you’re successful.
